If you are on a Medicare Advantage HMO plan, you must be assigned to one medical group; You can switch between medical groups throughout the year, but may only be assigned to one medical group at a time. It is possible to change your insurance plan without switching your medical group (meaning you can keep all of your doctors). As an independent agent, I can show you how.

A medical group is:
○ a network of doctors, hospitals, urgent care centers, and other medical facilities that are responsible for coordinating your healthcare.
○ sometimes referred to as an IPA (Independent Physicians Association)
○ an important factor when determining your quality of healthcare coverage
○ graded by CMS on a scale of 1-5 stars

A medical group is NOT:
○ the same as your insurance plan
