Описание: Tension continues to rise in Manipur’s Kuki-Zo areas as the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) extended a 48-hour total shutdown following the kidnapping of civilians and the killing of three church leaders in Kangpokpi district.

In Churachandpur, hundreds of women from the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights staged a massive protest demanding justice and stronger security measures. The demonstrators submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner addressed to the Union Home Minister, calling for the re-imposition of President’s Rule, a high-level probe, and increased deployment of security forces.

Meanwhile, the shutdown and blockade on NH-2 has left over 200 vehicles stranded, with passengers facing severe shortages of food, water, and basic facilities.

On the ground, civil society groups, government officials, and security forces are engaged in talks to secure the release of remaining hostages after 31 people were already freed from armed groups in Kangpokpi and Senapati districts.
