i grew up (read: was forced into) in the church. specifically, the Assembly of God Church. i no longer subscribe to churches or recognize myself as a Christian, and i believe Christian Nationalism is partially to blame for a large portion of the sociopolitical and moral problems we face in much of the developed world. despite my traumatic upbringing, gospel music still holds a place near and dear to my heart, and i am grateful for music as a universal language and the solace it can provide on the healing journey.
