Jeltom has patented a technology called "wave breaker" for the protection of property, facilities and people from coastal floods and erosion. The wave breaker consists of tubes made of woven polyester scrim, bilaterally PES/PVC-coated fabric, 5-20 m long, 1-10 m in diameter. The tubes are connected to the desired length and thus form a shore shield.
The sea waves break through the pipes, which weaken their devastating power.
Along the pipe, a high tensile strength mesh is welded. Seawater flows freely through the net, which further breaks the flow of underwater waves and collects the solid waste retained by the mesh net.
The height of the net can be adjusted to 1 to 5 m, depending on the sea depth. The network is fixed to the ground by steel chains and possibly concrete weights. The chains are fixed to steel profiles and serve to relieve waves.
Further development is focused on fundamental R&D for the integration of environmentally-friendly technology for protection against coastal flooding & erosion with technology for wave power production, including prototype building.
