So based on my personal experience :-

As a IT engineer you will start as software developer where you will work on project specific tasks.
Next you will get promoted to senior software developer where you will manage/work on complete project modules or features.
Then you turn to technical lead to manage project team and solve teams technical challenges.
Next you will become technical architect where you will have in depth technical knowledge about the tech-stack and infrastructure.
At last once you grow in terms of communication with stakeholders, understand the business needs, create software design documents and provide solution to business problems you will get promoted and become a solution architect.
