This video interview with Tony Hewes took place in 2011. Since then, CompCams has changed grind profiles and added new profiles. The legendary 252H camshaft that Tony and I discuss in this video was a mainstay for many engines, including the Jeep 232/258/4.0L engines equipped with distributor ignitions...In 1999, Jeep 4.0L engines began transitioning to distributor-less or "Coil On Plug" (C-O-P) design.
From 2000-2006 all 4.0L engines have C-O-P. These C-O-P engines and PCM controllers require a different camshaft profile than the 252H. The 252H grind will throw a code due to the valve overlap
of this camshaft if used in these model applications.
Consult with the latest CompCams recommendations for 1999-2006 4.0L or strokers based on the C-O-P design...The profile of the 252H (or current equivalent grind) is still highly beneficial to distributor-type (1999-back) 4.0L engines as well as 232 and 258 AMC inline sixes.
