Enemy Mine Is a story projecting an hypothesized future in which mankind has ventured into space. In their gung-ho venturing, they find themselves in a long clash with an alien species.

A crash landing on a desolate planet leads a sole survivor human presumed alone and stranded until he discovers the only companion available, is a Drac named Jeriba (acted by Louis Gossett Jr.)...who also has crash landed.

The story prevails with a series of emotional responses and the development of their relationship. They have only, each other and realize their best option.

The story itself centers on (Dennis Quad's character) Willis Davidge as he rediscovers himself and what he can become while in isolation (from a hypothesized culture of the human race)... It ( to me at least) is a story of a human re-connecting with the nature of his own "truth" and balance to determine the life he (individually) decides to choose...

...And can symbolise the figurative mirror we find ourselves with today (of our global paradigm) and maybe some lessons that can be re-discovered... that is, if the concept of an alien is replaced with a symbolic representation of the "communication, interaction and understanding" between ethnic races of humans that live within a different culture.... A relationship does not have to be based on conflict for imposing dominance.
