Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the BoatBuckle heavy duty ratchet transom tie down straps. Now these tie down straps let you firmly secure your boat's transom or stern to your trailer. The ratcheting mechanism makes it very easy to tighten down and maintain tension on the straps. These ratchet mechanisms let you easily tighten the straps precisely with no guesswork, and they let you easily loosen the straps instantly with the large quick release lever. One of the neatest features about this system is you'll notice how large these handles are. When you're talking about the overall width of that ratchet handle, you're looking at about pretty close to 2-5/8".
That's going to give you plenty of room to get in here and to operate the ratcheting mechanism even if you have gloves on. Then when you're ready to release the tension you pull up on this lever, open it up all the way, and that's going to allow you to release the tension completely. It's a really nice, easy to use design. Again, nice large ratchet mechanism with the easy to access and easy to operate release lever. Now the ratchets are zinc-coated. It's a steel construction with zinc coating, so they are designed to resist rust and corrosion.
The S-hooks are a nice large design. These are steel as well, but they feature a rubberized vinyl coating. That's designed to prevent scratching and scuffing at the attachment point. You'll also notice that underneath the ratchet mechanism is this web pad. That's going to keep it from scratching and scuffing the contact area.
The strap itself is made from a strong polyester webbing. It's very strong, very durable. It's flexible and weather-resistant. Both transom straps are included. I just have one assembled and one disassembled.
The length that you have with the transom straps, you have up to 2' long. The strap measures 2" wide. Safe working load limit is 833 pounds. That's per strap. The maximum load or break strength is 2,500 pounds per strap. Just always keep in mind that tie down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit. The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used.I did show you how to release the tension. Now I just want to show you how to assemble, because when you get this you're basically going to get four different pieces. You're going to get two ratchet mechanisms and then two straps that feed into the ratchet mechanism. Me personally, I always like to open up the ratchet all the way and then flip it over. Then you'll notice that it has this area right here. You'll see that gap in there. What we're going to do is we're going to take the strap, we're going to feed it through that slot, and then basically we're just going to make a u-turn and come right back over top. That allows us to start ratcheting down. It puts the strap in a good position where we can pull out any slack and then finish the tightening process easily using the ratchet mechanism. Then you could tie off whatever excess you have left. That's going to do it for today's look at the BoatBuckle heavy duty ratchet transom tie down straps.
