Bishara Haroni @ SF Conservatory Of Music 11th Floor Recital Hall 11/7/25 "Mazurka Op. 33 No. 3"

Описание: It was a beautiful day in The City to be up on the 11th floor recital hall of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music to take in the views and absorb the sound of some virtuoso piano playing. It's that time of year when lots of film producers attempt to generate some buzz for their projects to get Oscar and other film award nominations through free screenings. So we jumped at this chance mainly to hear some world class playing as in addition to the screening one of the subjects of the film, Bishara Haroni, was set to talk/perform afterwards. The movie was a Short called "Amal | Hope" about the collaboration of two piano masters, Palestinian Haroni and Israeli Yaron Kohiberg, who have been traveling the world performing as a duo. Obviously with the Arab/Israeli conflict at hand this partnership succeeds in stark contrast to what could be accomplished by the powers that be if they choose to stop perpetually shouting past each other, and instead found paths to speak together in one voice (of common humanity) as these two artists have achieved (through making music together...which itself takes choice/collaboration/listening/empathy/conflict resolution between the two in order to reach greatness). They seem to wish to do this through simply performing together and without beating people over the head with political commentary or the like, but by simply being out their doing the work to display that music (just like life) can defy borders and self imposed divides, and instead create bridges that can unite for those that choose building up over tearing down. After the screening, Bishara regaled us with a few classical pieces and participated in a Q&A along with the film’s producer and director (we would have got both pianists, but the other's wife is due to pop out a child any day now so he had to remain at home overseas). They are currently working on getting wider distribution and hope it will be streaming somewhere soon (which I suggest you do when you can). But are also in the process of adding more screenings like this all over to drum up more interest in the topic/film/peace for all.
