This was done on my first or second attempt at this, so most of my timings were pretty off and I was very hesitant at trying certain things that could've sped up the fight here.

Pirate Master first form isn't too difficult if you play safe. Stay away from the corners and the middle and be patient, he will fire his dark magic twice (on each side of the screen) after teleporting five times. His laser attack has random patterns, so that can either be the best or worst opportunity to get a lot of hits on him. Depending on which pattern you get you'll have to use the Cannon and Hat to do some tricky dodges.

The second form however is MUCH harder, the Pirate Master will always follow strictly the same pattern (Cannonball, Scimitars, Pistols, Pillars), but some of these attacks can be really hard to dodge. Another thing is that you lose ALL of Risky's items here.

To dodge the Cannonballs wait for them to bounce twice and run to the other side. The timing isn't too strict but you have to be ready for it, the way to dodge this attack thankfully doesn't change on Pirate King's third phase.

To dodge the homing guns in the third phase you can jump to lure them away from you.

The third phase will make things even more hectic. Most of the Pirate Master's attack get small, but dangerous, changes:
He fires four Cannonballs instead of three.
Scimitars will keep moving the safe spots.
Pistols will home towards you after finishing shooting.
The bone pillar and clones is the only attack that doesn't seem to have any change.

After that you need to finish the Pirate Master with the Ammo Baron Artillery, you'll have to stun the boss in place or be clairvoyant to hit him. Be careful as if you take too long he'll snap out of his stun and fire bullets everywhere.

The fight is pretty tough, but the first boss is much better (and quicker) than the one you have to fight in Risky's Revenge. It's probably going into my favorite final bosses list.
