I set out to build a bushcraft shelter in the snow. A big storm came through a couple days prior so there was plenty of fresh snow on the ground. Ended up building way too big of a shelter. It took all day to build and would not have been ideal for keeping in the heat. A lesson learned. Smaller is better.
