I can definitely see uses for both versions of this buttonhole band. When knitting with a stable, stiffer yarn, possibly one with a good amount of cotton in it, I would try this on a placket for a ladies' or girls' top. A narrow band is usually better for those garments. I do like this wider version better for cardigans, though.
