Use a COMMA to enclose PARENTHETICAL EXPRESSIONS.
A PARENTHETICAL EXPRESSION is a word that interrupts a sentence structure and can add additional meaning. It is not essential to the sentence structure but can make a difference in how the a message is conveyed.
The following is a list of some of the more common PARENTHETICAL EXPRESSIONS:
consequently, furthermore, however, moreover, nevertheless, notwithstanding, therefore, etc.
Sample: I must, nevertheless, leave early enough to get there before dark.
Sample: I can loan you the money, however, not until next year.
Sample: I am, consequently, very dissatisfied with your service.

COMMAS -ENCLOSE the following:
1. Introductory clauses
2. Introductory verbal phrases
3. Appositives (usually)
4. Mild interjections
5. Nominatives (names)of address
6. Very short parenthetic expressions (asides by the author)
7. Transposed elements (words out of normal word order)
8. Every item after the first in a date or address
9. Contrasting expressions introduced by not
10. Non-restrictive phrases or clauses
RESTRICTIVE ELEMENT--a word group necessary for identification.
NON-RESTRICTIVE ELEMENT-- a word group which gives additional information but is not necessary for identification.
