"During the late 1960s the Australian government started to make a conscious effort to rebrand there Christmas to Smissmas; likely due to concerted backlash and criticism from citizens. This unrest starting in the late 1940s and finally gaining a footing in the mid 1950s. Criticism stemmed from the small but perceivable up tick in missing children reported on December 18th, and the lack of attention payed by the government and local and federal police forces..."
