Weekdays in early November is the time of year where business for the Strasburg Rail Road is a bit laid back. To accommodate the smaller crowds, this is the time of year the railroad desides to operate their unique railcar #10 on excursions from East Strasburg to Leaman Place. This little doodlebug was originally built as a passenger car in the 1880's for the Lancaster, Oxford and Southern Railway, a long-gone narrow gauge operation. The car was then overhauled to be self-propelled in the early 20th century when passenger service decreased. It has since been converted to standard gauge and has been in operation on the SRC for over 50 years. We see #10 at Paradise Lane, Esbenshade Road, Cherry Hill, Carpenter's Crossing and Leaman Place. Enjoy!
