Beginner? With no equipment needed, you can do the glute bridge anywhere, and it's an ideal way to learn proper form before stepping up your game. That said, it's difficult to progress without giving your glutes some extra challenge with a pair of dumbbells for example. And you only get to work your hips in a small range of motion.
But if you're a little advanced, the bodyweight hip thrust is the way to go. The exercise gives you a greater range of motion. Works your glutes harder. And, well, it's easier to progress.
