muscle stiffness and pain can be significant symptoms of a severe phosphorus deficiency, also known as hypophosphatemia.
Symptoms of Severe Phosphorus Deficiency
If phosphorus levels in the blood drop significantly, symptoms affecting the muscles can become apparent:
Muscle stiffness and pain.
Muscle weakness, particularly in proximal muscles.
Fatigue and low tolerance for exercise.
Joint stiffness and bone pain.
In severe cases, rhabdomyolysis (muscle tissue breakdown) and respiratory or heart failure can occur.
