MPs have backed a move forcing the government to release documents about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s appointment as a UK trade envoy in 2001, including any vetting paperwork.
Trade minister Sir Chris Bryant said ministers will comply “as fast as we can”, but warned there could be delays because there’s a live police investigation. Andrew was arrested and released under investigation last week on suspicion of misconduct in public office, and he denies wrongdoing.
The motion (a “humble address”) passed without a vote. MPs want more transparency because of allegations linked to Andrew’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein and claims about sharing confidential information.
