Shifts and chemises are not the most inspiring things to make, but boy are they necessary to have! Luckily, early 19th century shifts are really simple to make; and since I decided to throw strict historical accuracy to the winds and used a sewing machine for all the stitching (yes, even the hem! Heresy!!), it was a simple, one day project!
Fabric: Light ‘handkerchief’ weight bleached linen

Thread: bog-standard Gutermann all-purpose polyester thread in white
Pattern: Didn’t use one! Measurements and a previously drafted template for the neckline were sufficient ;)
Sewing Machine: Tacsew 950 Industrial Zig-Zag Machine by Bernina
Filmed on my Android phone: the Samsung Galaxy s21
Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro (boy, do I have a LOT yet to learn when it comes to editing and working in Premiere!)
