Today’s video is a flat-lay style, top-down shoot where I wanted to test something a little different — can the Fujifilm X Half actually be used for commercial work?

I’ve been using the Fujifilm X-Half for about a month now and, honestly, I’m genuinely impressed with the image quality. It’s not a camera I would normally reach for on paid projects, but I was curious to see what results I could achieve by pairing it with professional film lighting and building a small mock commercial setup around a Dior make-up bag.
By the end of this video, I think you’ll agree that the images are more than capable of working for e-commerce, social media campaigns, or lightweight commercial projects. The results straight out of camera really surprised me, and it’s a camera I’m now excited to use more for travel, behind-the-scenes content, and potentially even some paid work.
I’m also introducing a couple of new lights I’ve recently been sent — I’ll link those below along with a 10% discount code for subscribers. If you shoot flat lays or product photography, these battery-powered lights are incredibly useful. For this setup they were dialled right down to around 1–5% power and still performed beautifully.

Towards the end of the video, I’ll show how quickly you can scroll through the Fujifilm film simulations, and I’ve included my three favourite images with the simulations listed on screen. Just to be clear — these are straight-out-of-camera JPEGs. The X Half doesn’t shoot RAW, and I’ve intentionally left the date stamp visible to show these are genuine, unedited results.
And if you’re in the process of starting your own YouTube channel — or you want to learn more about lighting setups and how to build a flat-lay review setup like this — leave me a comment below. If there’s enough interest, I’ll happily make more tutorials focused specifically around lighting, gear positioning, and creating clean top-down review content.
Let me know your thoughts — would you consider using a camera like this for professional or paid work?
