Описание: Day 2 – Daly Waters Hi-Way Inn to Barkly Homestead | 561 km

Day 2 of our Darwin-to-Cairns adventure takes us deeper into the NT outback as we roll out from the Daly Waters Hi-Way Inn and head south toward the Barkly.

First stop: Dunmarra, a quick top-up and stretch before continuing on.
A short detour brings us to the historic Newcastle Waters, a preserved ghost town just off the Stuart Highway. Once a vital droving junction, it now stands quietly with old buildings like Jones’s Store and the Junction Hotel, offering a glimpse into Territory history.

Back on the highway, we fuel up again at Elliott, a small town almost exactly halfway between Darwin and Alice Springs. With a population of just 287, Elliott sits in the Yapurkulangu ward of the Barkly Region and remains an essential stop for travellers crossing the NT.

Next up is Renner Springs, proudly known as The Heart of the Beef Country. We grab fuel and a cold beer before pushing further south across the wide-open Barkly Tablelands.

Our fourth stop is Three Ways Roadhouse, located at the junction of the Stuart and Barkly Highways. After topping up here, we swing east and begin the long, flat run toward Queensland.

The final stretch takes us to Barkly Homestead, a remote roadhouse sitting roughly halfway between Tennant Creek and Camooweal. After 561 km on classic NT highway, we settle in for the night ready for another big day on the road.
