Meddings LF1 floor standing pillar drill testing, quill spring adjustment, chuck removal and fitting

Описание: A video for pillar drill enthusiasts. Meddings made some of the best drilling machines in the UK and this model (possibly an LF1 floor machine, with intermediate slotted work table) is substantial and built to last forever. It is entirely belt driven but capable of drilling a range of materials when used sensibly. It was previously fitted with a 3 phase motor but then changed to single phase, making it suitable for everyday use in a home workshop.
In this video we have a look around the machine and drill some holes in steel and timber. We also see how easy it is to change the chuck (on a MT2 taper) and adjust the quill return spring -- a feature that makes it superior to most other drills I have used.
The video was shot in portrait view on my phone as this was the most suitable orientation to view the machine.
