Vivo has officially confirmed major camera upgrades for the upcoming Vivo X300 Ultra, and it could become one of the most powerful smartphone cameras ever released.

According to Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao, the Vivo X300 Ultra will feature a 200-megapixel ZEISS periscope telephoto camera powered by Samsung’s HP0 sensor. This fifth-generation ZEISS “Thanos” periscope system is designed to dramatically improve long-range zoom photography and video stability.

The camera system is also powered by Vivo’s BlueImage imaging technology, which improves color accuracy, autofocus speed, HDR processing, and overall image quality.

One of the biggest upgrades in the Vivo X300 Ultra camera system is its new 3° optical image stabilization. Traditional smartphone telephoto cameras usually offer 0.7° to 1° stabilization, while the previous Vivo X200 Ultra reached around 1.2°.

With the new hardware, Vivo claims the X300 Ultra delivers two to three times stronger stabilization, bringing what the company describes as gimbal-level stability for handheld zoom photography and video recording.

The telephoto camera is also said to achieve CIPA 7.0 professional stabilization standards, which are typically associated with dedicated cameras. This allows longer exposure times, improved light intake, and sharper zoom images, especially in low-light conditions.

The improved stabilization will be particularly useful at long focal lengths such as 200mm, 400mm, or beyond, making handheld zoom photos and videos significantly easier to capture.

In addition to the telephoto camera, the Vivo X300 Ultra will also feature the 200-megapixel Sony LYT-901 main camera sensor, making it the first flagship smartphone expected to include dual 200-megapixel cameras.

The complete camera setup is expected to include:

• 200MP Sony LYT-901 main camera
• 200MP Samsung HP0 ZEISS periscope telephoto camera
• 50MP Sony LYT-828 ultra-wide camera
• 5MP multispectral sensor for improved color accuracy

With these upgrades, the Vivo X300 Ultra is shaping up to be one of the most advanced smartphone cameras ever built, especially for zoom photography and stabilization performance.
