The heavy traffic endured by motorists on the Jinja, Busia, and Malaba routes could become a thing of the past in the near future. This is possible if one of several proposed models involving the construction of an alternative expressway receives backing, which could lead to financing the project under a public-private partnership. Officials at the East African Community say that the construction of the northern corridor route all the way to Kisumu will ease regional trade by saving the time wasted in traffic jams.
