This orchestral piece is loosely inspired by The Conference of the Birds, a 12th-century Sufi poem by Fariduddin Attar.
In the poem, the birds of the world embark on a journey to find their king – the legendary Simurgh.
They pass through seven symbolic valleys: quest, love, understanding, detachment, unity, amazement, and poverty.
In the end, they realize: the journey was toward themselves all along.

What fascinated me was the idea of many voices seeking meaning – not alone, but together.
In my version, each instrument becomes a bird: curious, distinct, hesitant, bold.
As the music unfolds, these solo voices begin to listen, respond, and form an ensemble.

This is also an educational piece – designed to introduce orchestral instruments through narrative and color.
It invites young players, audiences, and anyone new to orchestral music to hear each voice individually – and then as part of a greater whole.

Dieses Orchesterstück ist lose inspiriert von der Konferenz der Vögel, einem mystischen Epos des persischen Dichters Fariduddin Attar aus dem 12. Jahrhundert.
In der Geschichte begeben sich die Vögel auf die Suche nach ihrem König – dem Simurgh – und durchqueren sieben Täler: Suche, Liebe, Erkenntnis, Loslösung, Einheit, Staunen, Armut.
Am Ende erkennen sie: Die Reise galt ihnen selbst.

Mich hat die Idee begeistert, dass viele Stimmen gemeinsam aufbrechen – jede anders, aber in der Bewegung verbunden.
In meinem Stück wird jedes Instrument zum Vogel: neugierig, vorsichtig, eigenständig.
Erst allmählich beginnt das Zusammenspiel – aus Einzelklängen entsteht ein Kollektiv.

Das Stück ist bewusst als Education Piece konzipiert.
Es soll helfen, die Klangfarben und Eigenarten der Orchesterinstrumente erfahrbar zu machen – für junge Musiker:innen, Schulkonzerte, Workshops oder einfach für alle, die sich dem Orchester neu nähern möchten.
