Sophie Davis Biomedical Education Program Turns 50 with CUNY Medicine Family

Описание: Last night, the CUNY Medicine family was thrilled to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Sophie Davis Program for Biomedical Education. Dean Carmen Renée Green, MD, welcomed 200 Sophies. They included alumni, students, and faculty as well as staff and friends who gathered to honor a collective commitment to expanding medical education and healthcare access in underserved communities across NYC and beyond. @cunyedu Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez championed the foundational and enduring role that Sophie Davis has had in training generations of doctors to help lift New York.

Jonathan Woodson, MD, a graduate of the inaugural Sophie Davis Class of 1977, served as the Distinguished Alumnus Speaker, offering inspiring reflections on his journey from Sophie Davis student to renowned national medical leader and proud Sophie Davis alumnus. Dr. Woodson is currently President of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and earlier served as Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and Director of the Tricare Management Activity in the U.S. Department of Defense. He is also a retired Major General of @usarmyreserve.
