The following video gives detailed instructions on removing a convertible top latch release motor from a 2005 645ci (E64) with a stripped or broken latch gear.
If the top is stuck in the closed position AND CANNOT BE OPENED MANUALLY then the latch gear is most likely broken or stripped. The original latch gear manufactured by BMW is made of plastic and is prone to cracking after years of use. Always replace a damaged latch gear with an upgraded steel replacement.
