Rao Maldeo Rathore (1511-1562) was an Indian ruler of Marwar, which is now known as Jodhpur. He was a member of the Rathore clan.
Maldeo Rathore was born on December 5, 1511.
His father was Rao Ganga and his mother was Rani Padmavati of Sirohi.
He became the ruler of Marwar in 1531. At that time, his rule was only on the Parganas of Sojat and Jodhpur.
Maldeo Rathore was called the "King with Hashmat" by Persian historians. He participated in campaigns with his father and Rana Sanga, and established his reputation as a future emperor. He became very ambitious and may have killed his father, Ganga, by pushing him from a balcony while he was taking opium.
Maldeo Rathore led the war between Rana Sanga and Babur at Khanwa. Although he did not win the war, his reputation increased. He also fought with Sher Shah Suri in the battle of Giri Sumel.
