A lot of Warhammer 40K fans wonder: why doesn’t the Imperium just wipe out the Tau? After all, the Tau Empire is young, barely six thousand years old, and nowhere near the size or power of the Imperium of Man. The truth is… the Imperium could destroy them, but it’s simply not worth the cost.
Launching a campaign large enough to erase the Tau would take endless time and resources time the Imperium doesn’t have in a galaxy filled with Chaos, Tyranids, Orks, and Necrons. In the grimdark future, the Tau don’t survive because they’re the strongest… but because the Imperium is stretched too thin to waste their strength.
