In this video we show off some of our garage sale and thrift plunder from the summer. We have fine costume jewelry, 10k bracelets, silpada sterling earrings, mystery silver spoons, and so much more! What a great summer it has been!
Still haven't figured out those spoons, had them on the XRF machine and the results were: 84.5% silver, 9.9% copper, 3.6% zinc, 2.1% nickel
I think maybe ROBBE & BERKING from Germany?
If you need to see markings, try out this cheap loupe like I show in the video. Works fine (generally, quality control isn't great), but at $7USD it can't be beat: https://amzn.to/4fWPjIy
We often employ a cheap magnet of a type you can find here if you need one: https://amzn.to/4hf65nd ($7USD at the time I am uploading this video)
The gold test kit I use is this one if you would like to get your own: https://amzn.to/4kugYnt

This video presents a "plunder" roundup of items the creator found while garage selling and thrift shopping during the summer (0:12). The creator explains their process of identifying potentially valuable items and why they choose to purchase them (1:30).
Key items discussed include:
Mystery Spoons (2:03): A pair of spoons with the Hermes staff symbol that the creator bought for $5. They are trying to determine if they are sterling silver despite lacking full hallmarks. An XRF machine test showed them to be 84.5% silver (6:18-7:02).
Victorian Gold Fill Bracelet (9:27): A bracelet bought for $1 that serves as an excellent example of worn-through gold fill, showing the underlying brass and demonstrating how thicker gold plates were used for engraving (10:05-13:16).
Silpada Sterling Earrings (13:39): A pair of earrings purchased for $3.99, identified as sterling silver by their "925" mark and Silpada triangle symbol (14:02-14:28).
Pearl Necklace with 14K Gold Clasp and Beads (14:41): A necklace bought for $6.99, featuring real pearls and a 14 karat gold clasp and beads (15:05-16:22).
Giovani Necklace (17:24): A necklace purchased for 50 cents, noted for its beautiful design and the "Giovani" maker's mark (17:31-18:05).
Sterling Silver Necklace and Earrings (18:13): A silver necklace marked "925" and likely rhodium plated (18:22-19:10), along with sterling earrings also marked "925" (19:40-19:50).
10K Gold Bracelet (20:14): A dainty 10 karat gold bracelet, which weighed 3.66 grams (20:33-21:20).
Silver Plate Napkin Ring (21:58): A napkin ring bought for $1, used as an example of silver plate that has corroded, revealing the base metal (22:01-23:00).
American Sterling Demitasse Spoon (23:03): A hand-engraved sterling spoon from the mid-1800s, given to the creator by their father (23:10-24:30).
Sterling Handle Knives (25:05): Knives with sterling handles, bought for $5, which the creator is considering scrapping (25:25-25:52).
Brass Ankle Bracelet (25:54): A jingling brass ankle bracelet bought for $1 or 50 cents (25:54-26:36).
