Air Commodore Ashutosh Lal, VM, an accomplished helicopter pilot and an A2 Qualified Flying Instructor, served the Indian Air Force from 1987 to 2020. A decorated officer with over three decades of service, he held key operational, instructional, and diplomatic roles — including Commanding Officer of the elite Attack Helicopter Squadron, Chief Flying Instructor at Air Force Academy, and Air Attaché at the Embassy of India in Kyiv, Ukraine. A recipient of the Vayu Sena Medal and Mention in Despatches, his contributions to night operations, jointmanship, and innovation in helicopter warfare have left a lasting mark on the IAF.
