It is predicted that by 2050 135M people will suffer with Alzheimer's disease. Understanding the development of the disease is therefore of great interest for therapeutics. One idea is to use senolytics - compounds that remove senescent cells. Senescent cells accumulate in the brain during age - are they the cause, contributer or consequence of Alzheimer's disease pathology?
