Fishers of Men | Evangelism for Kids

Описание: Douglas talks about how evangelism is a little bit like being a fisherman.

Douglas likes to go fishing with his grandpa, but one day his grandpa asked him a confusing question, "Do you want to fish for people?" When Douglas goes fishing with his grandpa they go out on a little lake and they have fake little fish with hooks on them called "lures" and they throw the lure in the lake on the end of their fishing lines and they reel them in and try to make the lure look alive. If a fish thinks it's alive then they might bite on to the hook and then they pull the fish out of the water and take it home and cook it and eat it. So the idea of fishing for people seemed pretty crazy, and maybe a little bit scary, to Douglas. But his Grandpa explained that many of Jesus' disciples were fishermen, and Jesus asked them to become fishers of men. His disciples didn't fish like we do. Every day they would get in their boats to go catch fish (Douglas only gets to fish with his grandpa maybe twice a month) and they would fish with nets instead of lures and hooks. This was their job, if they didn't catch fish they didn't eat. when they would throw their nets out, some fish would swim around them but some would stay in the nets and then they would pull them up into the boat. Jesus wanted his disciples to share the Gospel with people the same way they would go fishing. And that's what Jesus wants us to do as well. Just like fishermen would throw their nets out every day, we should be spreading the Good News of Jesus with everyone we meet. With both our words and our action we should show God's love to everyone and shine as lights in this dark world every day. And just like a fisherman never catches all the fish that swim by him net, not everyone will believe us or put their trust in God. And that's ok, we can keep spreading God's love and the Good News of Jesus every day.
