In this video Rich, Zac, and myself show you our EDC (Everyday Winter Carry) and we take a look at the kinds of things you should do to prepare for winter and the type o equipment that you should take with you if you want to drive some winter trails.
Winter is, for many people, something to be frightened of -- even many Land Rover owners are unwilling to take their vehicles out when the weather turns colder. However, we show you some of the things we carry with us to make our vehicles the safest they can be. We include some simple winterisation, such as swapping the windscreen to a winter wash, and how to place your wipers in the winter park position.
For those of you who have really wanted to get out and on to winter trails, we discuss the kinds of equipment you need to have with you and why. This more serious preparation includes things like kinetic ropes, high-lift jacks, and traction boards such as the @MAXTRAX_HQ. To avoid potential issues like those Emeka from @DrivenHard experienced, you should consider carrying most (if not all) of the equipment we detail in the video. Carrying this stuff would reduce the risk of abandoning one or more of the vehicles on the trail (or worse -- being stuck there for days).
This video is probably the most ambitious that I have put together, not only because of the complexity of the content, but also because of the drone footage we recorded on the trail. I hope that you will be able to watch it on a big screen TV to get the benefit of the 30GB of drone footage of the Trans-Alta and Ghost River Valley trail that we hit up -- scenery here is really remarkable, and the snow makes it even more impressive!
