Deboning Salmon Fillet
Taking the bones out of salmon before cooking can be very beneficial. It can be a much safer way to eat for all parties since it reduces the risk of a bone being found while eating.
Designate a pair of tweezers for the kitchen if you eat fish often.
Set one side of the tweezers under the tip of the pin bone in the fish fillet.
Pull the bone the opposite direction it enters into the fillet.
Feel with your fingers to check for hidden bones. The bones will dwindle out towards the tail.
Eat sustainably and safely.
Practice proper food safety when handling any raw fish! Clean surfaces, utensils and hands between steps and after you are finished!
When I was a server in a restaurant a coworker of mine had to take her child to the hospital for a fishbone in his throat.
The doctor was amazed to actually find a bone in the boy’s throat!
Many people swallow fish bones and while the bone is traveling down the throat it can cause a slight abrasion line down the throat. That line can give the sensation that the bone is stuck in your throat but in reality the bone just scratched the inside of your throat tubes on it’s way down. IMO it’s better to try and prevent those factors as much as possible.
Fish bones are common in pressure cooked canned fish. The bones in canned fish are often much softer due to the cooking process. Try crushing them with the back of a fork before mixing into any recipe if possible.
I spread coconut oil on this tray, cleaned up the fillet after deboning.
Cooked for about 15 minutes on 425 in a preheated oven.
