young bun Fennel searches for blackberries & picks her own

Описание: recorded 8.4 to 8.6.2024. It's full-on blackberry season and young Fennel loves them! I She's been living in the blackberry brambles since she was a kit and now she gets to see how yummy her home is. I gather gallons of blackberries each summer and will drop many on the ground for the bunnies. This video starts off with Fennel looking for berries, first on the vines, then on the ground. When she doesn't find any on the ground, she goes back to the vines and up on her hind legs. While her back is to us, the hawkweed white seed poofs in the foreground make her look like she's got multiple cotton tails.

Fennel was born to Topaz mid-May 2024. On June 11, 2024 we were looking out our window watching Peanut munching in a meadow when all of a sudden a hawk landed on the ground and started flapping its wings wildly. My husband ran out as fast as he could and scared the hawk away and a baby bunny darted into the brambles. Fennel is that baby bunny! And she is special not only because she survived a hawk attack, but also because she stayed in our yard all winter and had babies here this past summer (2025)! She's overwintering here again this year (2026). Here are some more recent photos of Fennel    • Запись  . She's beautiful and all healed from her scary encounter. She still has a little scar on her right ear, which is how I'm able to recognize her. We're so grateful to have been able to save her and give her a second chance at life. All the bunnies on this channel are eastern cottontails (Sylvilagus floridanus), the most common rabbit species in North America.
