1954 vintage Convair CV-440, N153JR approaching Runway 10 at SXM. Recorded with Canon 5D Mark II. HD video with external Rode stereo video mic. 14 mm super wide angle lens. Great sight and sound to see/hear this classic old workhouse in action. The sound after it flies past the camera is worth listening to carefully as the power gets pulled to idle. Enjoy! SXM is the best a/c spotter's paradise!! This is kind of like a Corona commercial for airplane nuts! For the record this video is 100% real. Some idiot commented that it is fake. Don't be a moron!
Updated information: Sad news to report. This aircraft N153JR crashed at SJU, San Juan, PR shortly after takeoff on March 15, 2012. Pilots reported engine troubles and were attempting to return to SJU. The aircraft crashed in a lagoon east of SJU. No survivors. RIP N153JR and the two pilots.
