I hope that someone finds this helpful. Apologies for the endless noodling.
Both of these amps are an absolute joy to play. Both of these amps get very nasty (in a good way) and clean up very nicely with the guitar’s volume knob.
All of the pedals are bypassed with a true bypass looper. The only pedals used are a BOSS DD-2, Strymon Flint, and Strymon El Capistan, and only used for the Wreck portions.
My MAZ is a 2004 MKI that was modded to MKII specs by Dr Z and Don back in December of 2020. I loved the MKI, but the MKII is so much more useable and has much more gain on tap. Don’t fret, the cleans are still there.
If you’re in the market for either, you can’t go wrong. My take is that the MAZ needs no pedals and the Wreck for me needs a slapback delay or reverb for me to fully enjoy it. But that’s me.
Guitars used:
Fender Telecaster with Fralin Blues Specials
Ibanez AS73 with Suhr Thornbucker pickups
“Gibson” Les Paul with Duncan ‘59’s
Fender American Standard Stratocaster with stock pickups (1996 special edition)
