St Adalbert Catholic church was built in 1914. It was designed by Henry Schlacks, one of the most renowned and respected architects in Chicago, who specialized in Roman, cathedral style churches all over the city. St Adalbert church was designed after St Paul's Basilica in Rome, Italy. The church is said to have some of the most detailed marble-work in the city and surrounding suburbs. Originally built by the Polish community, it now serves the needs of the primarily Mexican community in the Pilsen neighborhood. It is now at risk of closing due to much needed repair work on the twin 185-foot renaissance towers. We hope you appreciate the beauty of this magnificent structure, and spiritual home to many. Any support will be very much appreciated!
