Smoke rose over the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Wednesday (Sept 10) after Israeli airstrikes hit multiple targets, including military camps, the Houthi defence ministry, and a fuel storage site. Witnesses reported explosions in al-Jawf province and strikes on a command-and-control hideout between two mountains
Houthi media said the attacks killed and wounded several people. The Israeli military described the strikes as retaliation for Houthi-led drone and missile attacks on Israel
The escalation comes just days after an Aug 30 strike in Sanaa killed the Houthi prime minister and several ministers — the first direct attack on senior officials
The Houthis, aligned with Iran, have launched drones and missiles at Israel and targeted vessels in the Red Sea, claiming solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. Israel has responded with repeated strikes on Houthi-controlled regions, including the strategic port of Hodeidah
