DTI SEOM Welcome Dinner Tour

Описание: As part of the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN Chairship, the country hosted the First ASEAN Senior Economic Officials’ Meeting for the Fifty-Seventh Meeting of the ASEAN Economic Ministers (SEOM 1/57) in Panglao, Bohol, bringing together Senior Economic Officials, sectoral body representatives, knowledge partners, and officials from the ASEAN Secretariat to advance the region’s economic agenda.

Chaired by Ms. Marie Sherylyn D. Aquia, Director of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Bureau of International Trade Relations (DTI-BITR), the meeting served as an important platform to review progress under the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and align priorities as ASEAN transitions to the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.

Discussions focused on advancing the Philippines’ Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs) under its ASEAN Chairship, such as the signing of the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), the ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on Strategic Trade Management, ASEAN Declaration on AI-Powered MSME Growth, Regional Program for Science, Technology, and Innovation on AI, and the establishment of the ASEAN Center of Excellence for MSMEs (ACE-MSMEs), as well as sustainability initiatives, and efforts to strengthen regional trade and industrial cooperation. The meeting also covered ASEAN’s external partnerships, the changing global economic landscape, and ongoing efforts to support Timor-Leste’s integration into the ASEAN economic community.

The National Organizing Council (NOC), together with the local government unit (LGU) of Bohol, also organized cultural and tourism activities that allowed delegates to experience the Philippines beyond the meeting halls. These included a welcome dinner at South Palms Resort, Panglao, featuring Filipino culture and artistic performances, as well as hosted tours that offered a closer look at the island’s natural attractions, local flavors, and relaxed coastal atmosphere.
