Crealy Theme Park & Resort marked a major milestone with the 25th anniversary of the Maximus Coaster, the park’s beloved Roman-themed rollercoaster that first opened in 2000. As Devon’s first coaster, Maximus has been thrilling families for a quarter of a century with twists, turns, and a dramatic themed ride through ancient Rome. To celebrate this achievement, Crealy lit up the skies with Fire Fusion, an incredible pyrotechnic display that brought together dazzling fireworks and music for an unforgettable night at the park.

Maximus Coaster is a junior coaster manufactured by Vekoma that first opened on July 22, 2000 under the name El Pastil Loco before being renamed Maximus in 2009. Standing 8.5 metres tall with a 207-metre track length, this family-friendly ride reaches speeds of up to 22 mph.

Themed around ancient Rome, the Maximus Rollercoaster takes riders through twisting turns, drops, and a dramatic journey that has made it a family favourite for 25 years. Each train has 8 cars seating two riders per row, ensuring a smooth ride experience.

To ride the Maximus Rollercoaster, guests must be at least 92cm to ride, and those between 92cm and 110cm must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Crealy Theme Park & Resort is the largest theme park in Devon, home to more than 60 rides, attractions, live shows, and a zoo. Since opening in 1989, it has grown to become one of the South West’s most popular family destinations, voted Devon’s best day out for eight years running. Alongside rides such as Maximus, Twister, and the Tidal Wave log flume, Crealy also features Sooty Land, which opened in 2022 and remains one of the most popular themed areas in the park.
