Preventing acne scars is very important if you suffer from pimples,, acne, cystic acne or zits.
It is much easier and more effective to treat early acne scars than old acne scars. The Acne Free RF Program was invented by Dr Davin Lim and involves the treatment of acne and acne scarring simultaneously. RF or radiofrequency is performed monthly for a total of 4 treatments. This program is now adopted by numerous dermatologists Nationally and Worldwide.

Why is it best to treat scars early, rather than leaving them?
Early scars are much easier to remove than old scars. This is the basis of early acne scar management. The program treats both acne, and acne scarring at the same time. Why wait for scars to from when effective treatments such as ematrix can remodel and reverse early acne scars?

What is the science behind the RF and acne treatments?
Firstly control of acne is essential; if you develop more acne lesions, pustules, or zits, more scars will form. For control of acne, I may prescribe anti-hormone tablets, antibiotics, Vitamin A creams or even tablets. This is the first step. Once acne is under control (usually within 4-8 weeks) we enter the second step of the program- scar revision. RF or RadioFrequency treatments are performed monthly, for a total of 4 sessions. RF or radiofequency works by remodeling collagen, breaking down scars, and forming new healthy skin.
This is only one of my many methods in preventing acne scars. Later videos will show you how I use microneedling and special fractional lasers to treat more severe scars.

How effective is this program?
Very. Our studies indicate that 60-90% scar improvement can be seen with this program. You will notice scars will start to be shallower, and less obvious. Redness is the last aspect of scarring to fade- this may take 2-3 months after your ematrix treatment. Rolling and early atrophic scars do best with eMatrix. This treatment can also address open pores.

How many ematrix radiofequency RF treatments will I need?
The program consists of 4 radiiofrequency treatments spaced one month apart. We increase the power and density coverage with each treatment. After each RF you will notice an improvement in your scars. Even after the 4th radiofrequency treatment your scars will improve for up to 3 months.
If you have extremely severe acne scars, you can continue for another cycle of treatments. 90% of patients will only need one cycle. Remember – this is only suitable for early scars- less than 3 months old.


How long will I take to recover after RF?
1-4 days depending on the power and over lap of eMatrix treatment.



What machines do I use to deliver acne scar prevention?

I like eMatrix Radiofrequency the best for treating early acne scars. eMatrix delivers consistent power and results for the past few years. I also use the Picosure FOCUS, Dermapen and INFINI RF (to date INFINI is the best- video to follow). Fraxel fractional skin resurfacing can also be used, but INFINI is much better. I am also using PRP with microneedling to speed up recovery times.

Remember- if you have acne scars, prevention is better than cure. Treating early acne scars is better than treating old scars.
