Joseph Altuzarra, one of the most important American designers working today, is back on the New York runway.

Altuzarra has shown on the Paris Fashion Week schedule since 2017, but the restrictions of the pandemic drove him home.

Altuzarra staged his Spring/Summer 2022 show at 160 Varick, on a floor that was completely unfinished.

“We wanted to take an abandoned corporate office and reclaim it as a creative space”, he said.

Altuzarra said he looked at a treasured book, Charles Fréger’s Wilder Mann, and its photographs of pagan rituals and celebrations of spring, for inspiration.

So, his collection delivered thoughtful tie-dye, dynamic crochets and knits, and an abundance of flowing tops, dresses, and skirts.

Featuring a kaleidoscope of what the contemporary woman searches for, Altuzarra’s collection reconstructed feminine power dressing.
