Playa del Carmen was my first foreign solo trip back in 2017.
I was young, broke, and clueless — and I barely spent twelve hours here.
I stayed on Fifth Avenue, took a photo at the beach, and left.
Years later, I came back — not looking for resorts or checklists, but wondering if I had missed something the first time.
This episode is about slowing down and finding a different rhythm in Playa del Carmen — one that exists beyond Fifth Avenue.
Through local food, night markets, dancing, quiet mornings, and moments off the tourist path, I tried to see the town for what it really is.
