(3 Dec 1994) A Georgian opposition leader, Georgy Chanturia, was killed on
Saturday (3/12) when gunmen opened fire on his car. Chanturia's
wife, parliament member was badly wounded in the same attack. The
chief spokesman for the interior ministry said gunmen opened fire on
the pair's car in the centre of Tbilisi from three sides, using a
machinegun and several automatic rifles.
