People are thronging the market to buy clothes, footwear, accessories, sweets, and gifts for the festival. Shopkeepers say the increased footfall has brought cheer after the long winter lull.

Shoppers are enjoying the festive atmosphere, especially while picking out outfits for their families and children. Henna artists, including those from outside the Valley, are also witnessing strong demand as women line up to get intricate designs applied.

Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan, is expected to be celebrated in India on March 20 or 21, subject to the sighting of the crescent moon.
