In this video, I’m taking you along as I create a custom pearl tulle maternity gown for a dear friend. She had a very specific vision for her own maternity photography work, but I surprised her and made it for her shoot instead once I found out she was pregnant!

The design was inspired by a gown we found through a dress rental on the Salt Gowns website, and I attempted to recreate it without a pattern and without ever measuring her haha.

I used this stunning pearl tulle generously gifted by KikiTextiles, and it truly made the gown what it is—soft, romantic, and full of movement. From draping and construction to final fitting, you’ll see my full process and the thoughtful choices that go into sewing a complex gown like this.
