Dear followers, in today’s video, as I promised in one of my previous reels, I will walk you through a typical 2024 (&previous years’) more functions/equations-based task vs a 2025 more text-based task.

A HUGE DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE NOT TASKS TAKEN FROM PREVIOUS WU EXAMS!!! These are tasks I made for my students (bbe-exam.com) based on previous years’ students’ feedback on what kind of questions came up and which skills were necessary to solve them

Sometimes I make my tasks a tiny bit more challenging than how they were like on the actual WU BBE entrance exam just to account for stress&pressure you will have in the exam hall compared to being more relaxed when solving the practice tasks at home

WU BBE entrance exam task solving advice:

They can for sure switch it up in the next years. They can add more or less text tasks. The can add more or less functions&equations based tasks. What matters is that you know the theory so well & know all the details that you can apply it to any type of task. And in this video I will show you how to do that! :D

Another note: PLEASE READ the “formal” conditions of the task. E.g., what values can each variable take (only negative, only positive, including or excluding 0, as it can play a role during one of the answers)

03:11-04:08 A WU BBE entrance exam task will have 5 True/False statements. Comments on the online vs offline format of the task answers

04:09-05:17 You do not get negative points on the WU BBE entrance exam for guessing. Comments on the partial point grading system WU uses.

Note: You do not get graded on the solutions. It is up to you how you solve the task. Even if you guess it correctly with no working out, you still get the points. So, never leave a task blank, if you are running out of time or are unsure of it, as the tasks usually have a mix of them, so you are likely to get at least some partial points.

A task can also have all true or all false statements. It happens. But very rarely. So if you think it is suspicious that all statements are true/false, do not worry, if it happened in a few tasks, it is likely that they just had this answer key to test how confident you are in your answers

WU BBE entrance exam task solving advice:

Sometimes there are two approaches to one statement. Pick one that you are more sure of & that is faster for you. As on the WU BBE entrance exam time management is key to maximize your points

For abstract rules with letters practice them on a few examples with numbers to really understand them

Differentiation topic can come up in the statements of other topics’ questions (e.g., polynomials, etc.).

Pay attention to details and re-read a statement to make sure you do not confuse one variable with another

Be careful when dividing two fractions to not mess the answer up

Know how to change the base of a logarithm as your calculator will only have ln (base e) and lg (base 10) by default

Notes:
Know how to filter out important information vs not so relevant descriptions
BE CAREFUL WITH ANNUAL VS SEMI-ANNUAL & ETC. & CONTINOUS COMPOUNDING!
Know how to transform text into equations
Pay attention to minor details as they can change the answer from what seems like true to false when you look at it more carefully

Out of a more “scientifc” and a more “plugging in numbers” approach, usually the 2nd one is faster
If you forget a “shortcut’ formula, you can still solve the task by writing it “from scratch”, it might just take more time, but it is still better than not solving the task at all :D

EFFECTIVE INTEREST RATE WHEN DEALING WITH DIFFERENT COMPOUNDING FREQUENCIES IS NICE TO KNOW FOR THE WU BBE ENTRANCE EXAM (Also for "Elementary Financial Mathematics")

Re-read wordy tasks in case you need to to make sure you are interpreting the question correctly
Photomath is a nice app to double-check your calculations during preparation, but you still should be getting used to your physical calculator that you will be using on the actual WU BBE entrance exam
