It began with polite comparisons, then whispers, then headlines. The audience that once worshiped his every move now looked past him, drawn to a name still wet with novelty. Yet the stage doesn’t lie — it remembers who owned it. He tells himself that the crowd’s betrayal is temporary, that the newcomer’s talent is a fluke. But envy festers like rot beneath gold leaf, and soon, his admiration curdles into obsession.

He pushes harder, performs faster, risks everything — desperate to prove he still matters. Each act becomes more dangerous, more unhinged, a fevered attempt to resurrect the man they used to adore. But the cheers never sound quite the same; they echo hollow, mocking him with every missed note and forced smile. The realization cuts deeper than failure: he is no longer the show — he’s the shadow behind it.

So he plots. If the spotlight will not return willingly, he will drag it back by force. The stage that once gave him life will become his altar and his weapon.
